How to Prevent Tooth Decay in Children?

At Fethiye Selin Dental, providing oral care for pediatric patients is our first priority. However, there is no medicine or vaccine to completely prevent cavities in children. However, preventive measures can be taken against cavities with some preventive practices and regular oral and dental care. Some applications that will prevent caries in children are as follows;

Fissure Sealant: There are small pits called fissures on the molars in the area called the chewing surface. These areas are covered with fissure sealant material so that elements such as germs and food residue do not leak into the area. Thus, the onset of caries can be prevented in children. This procedure can be applied to permanent molars and premolars in children after the age of 6.

Fluoride Application: This is another method of preventing caries. This procedure increases the resistance of teeth against caries. In children, resistance is increased by applying superficial fluorine to the teeth. It is also recommended to use fluorine-containing toothpastes as a support.

Regular brushing: In order for children to gain the habit of brushing their teeth in the future, they should gain the habit of brushing their teeth at an early age. Thus, cavities can be fought effectively. Children should get into the habit of brushing teeth 2 times a day.
